The song "Time" was written as an instrumental piece, hopefully to create a mental picture of the vastness of our solar system & of the infinity of outer space. As the sun, moon, & the planets all move in their orbits, they demonstrate to us on earth the changes of Time such as Day, Night, New moon, Full moon, even an eclipse. Consider our most famous comet, Haley's Comet: it passes close to the earth every 76 years, most recently in 1986.
The song "Selfless" demonstrates my softer style of jazz playing with a distinctive melody line. Basically a simple tune but a tad more emotional & it utilizes dynamics to build to an elation in places, hopefully to be a singable melody for the listener!
This instrumental song was written in hopes of taking the listener on a musical journey, beginning with a mystical acoustic guitar intro & then goes through multiple key changes, building upward, then back down on the end. The composition was inspired by the Japanese instrumental band Black Mages.
The song "Predestined" tends to show a little more of my jazz influence, though it crosses multiple genres such as rock, fusion, & even blues. The idea for the song was a spontaneous riff intended to challenge one of my more advanced guitar students. The idea stuck with me for many years before I was satisfied with the rest of my composition.
Musically speaking, the song was constructed by utilizing diatonic chord scales in a minor key & modal chord progressions [C Lydian} & basic intervals such as minor 3rd's & 4th's to allow rhythmic movement.
The basic theme for the song is about the destiny of our lives, & the fact that we have an ultimate purpose to others that we come in contact with, to make their life better! Whatever we dish out...will return to us!

This tune entitled "Selfless" demos a little of my jazz side of influences. My compositions have always leaned a little more to the jazz side, even on my rock tunes. This is mainly because I structure my chord progressions & melodies from a modal perspective.
